Manipur: India's main opposition party, the Congress party, initiated the second phase of its cross-country march, "Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra" (India Unifying Justice March), ahead of the 2024 general election. Rahul Gandhi, a senior Congress leader, flagged off the march in Manipur, addressing the ethnic violence that claimed over 180 lives in the region.

Gandhi, starting the march in Thoubal district, pledged to bring peace and harmony to Manipur while criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting the troubled state. He stated, "Maybe for Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Manipur is not a part of India. Your pain is not their pain."

Expressing empathy for Manipur's people, Gandhi promised to restore the harmony and peace for which the state was known. The "India Unifying Justice March" aims to cover a distance of over 6,700 km in 66 days, concluding in Mumbai on March 20. A similar march led by Gandhi in 2022 covered 4,000 km in nearly 150 days, drawing significant public response across the country.
